Forward Motion Therapeutics is a physical therapy and animal massage company. It is our goal to provide unique, individualized programs to each of our clients in order to optimize function and comfort in their daily lives. We strive to work within a whole body/mind framework, in a natural setting as much as possible. Physical therapy sessions incorporating hippotherapy techniques are part of our specialized services, and are available when deemed appropriate.
Because therapy horses average 2,000+ steps during a typical treatment, hippotherapy gives patients thousands of opportunities to develop and refine balance responses, leading to improvements in core stabilization and postural control. When working in a traditional clinical therapy setting, therapists often rely on equipment such as balance boards and Bosu balls to work on dynamic balance and core stabilization. Mounted equine activities provide a fantastic dynamic surface that provides constant input with equality and regulated movement, benefitting both sensory and musculoskeletal systems.
Physical Therapy Services:
Comprehensive evaluation. Available in a clinic/gym setting, client’s home, or on premises of Grey Muzzle Manor (location of hippotherapy services.)
Individualized physical therapy sessions 1-2 times weekly in gym, barn arena, or combination.
Consultation services. Weekly, biweekly, or monthly checkin sessions for review of progress and problem list.
Liaison with other service providers (DME companies, orthotists, physicians, etc.)
Animal Services:
Offering therapeutic massage therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, infrared light therapy, and reiki sessions. Specializing in equine and canine services, but other pets considered as well.
